What to Expect During Heater Installation

Installing a new heater is a big investment. And when you schedule the appointment for a heater installation, you want to know what to expect out of the process. Installing a heater is not a particularly difficult job, although it does require highly specialized training and tools so it can take a little bit of time to get it done right.

That’s what we are here for. Once you decide on a specific type of heater, we can walk you through the process for your unique unit. In the meantime, you can keep reading to learn more about what to expect when you schedule a heater installation in Saint Michael, MN.

Preparation

Before we begin installing anything, we have to get prepared. This can include laying down floor coverings to protect your home from our tools and equipment. We also cut off all energy sources, including electricity and gas or fuel lines that connect to your air conditioner. Then we will do a check for any other potential hazards that we need to secure. This may include anything sharp that could poke someone or something heavy that could fall down.

Removing Your Old Unit

Our next step is to remove all of your old equipment. We will remove everything from your actual AC unit to venting, electrical wires, and even gas lines. We want to replace everything we can with brand-new components so that your new AC can last for a long time to come without any problems from old components.

After that, we clean. It’s easy for the areas under your unit to get dusty and dirty because it’s difficult to reach and clean. Then before we begin the actual installation of your new unit, we may need to make some alterations to your existing ductwork, vent placement, or even how and where your indoor and outdoor units are located. We want to do our best to set you up for success in the future.

AC Installation

Now it’s time to install your new air conditioner. Our team will take their time to make sure that each individual component is installed and connected correctly. We know that everything has to work together to provide the best outcome as far as heating, cooling, and even energy efficiency. The total installation time is usually between four and eight hours, and this portion takes the longest amount of that time.

Testing

Once everything is connected together, we turn back on the system’s energy source and begin testing. We will test your unit for at least an hour, turning it on and off repeatedly to listen to the system and make sure that everything is working as it should. Throughout this testing, we are reviewing calculations to make sure that the pressure inside of your unit and airflow are all at the proper levels.

When we are confident that everything is correct, we will teach you all about your new unit. We can help you understand how to maximize energy efficiency and maintain the system so that it will last for decades to come. And remember, if you ever have any questions about how to use your new air conditioner, or think that something may be wrong, just give us a call. We are always happy to help.
