Tips to Help You Identify Sewer Problems Early

Sewer problems aren’t just a major inconvenience when they happen. They can also be very harmful to your home and your family because when sewage begins backing up into your home, bacteria and bad odors get released into the air.

It’s a problem you want to avoid at all costs, and we can help you do just that. Keep reading to learn more about the benefits of proactive sewer cleaning in Maple Grove. Then give our team a call when you’re ready to schedule your service or talk about any concerns you have.

Water in Your Yard

If you notice standing water in your yard that doesn’t have an explanation, sewer problems are likely the culprit. You may notice puddles of water in your yard after a heavy rain or if you use your water hose or sprinklers in the yard. But standing water any other time is concerning.

It’s possible that you have a broken pipe or that the sewer is backing up into your yard and causing puddles of water. Either way, you need to call and schedule service to get the issue checked out. A broken pipe would also be accompanied by a much higher than usual water bill, while a sewer backup would not.

Slow Drains

It’s common to have a slow drain from time to time. Slow drains often happen because clogs develop in your plumbing lines. Having a clog in a single drain is concerning enough. However, if sinks and tubs across your entire home are draining slowly, that points to a much larger problem.

It is unlikely that you had individual clogs developing in all of the drains across your house at the same time. Instead, there’s probably a sewer backup impacting your entire home.

Unusual Sounds or Odors

If sewage backups come close enough to the drains, you may begin to smell sewage odors wafting up into your home. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience. These odors carry bacteria and germs with them, greatly increasing your family’s risk of getting sick.

Gurgling sounds are also common with a sewage backup, even when your plumbing is not in use. You should never hear gurgling sounds if you are not actively using water at a sink or tub. Even then, gurgling sounds are concerning because they point to the presence of a blockage. The gurgling sounds are even more concerning when water is not in use because they mean that water or sewage is actively moving in your lines.
